Doug Tien

Deacon Douglas Adam Tien

Douglas Tien joins the Living Water Board from Camrose, Alberta. He and his wife, Mary, a retired high school teacher, have provided consistent support and encouragement to Living Water College. The arts have been an important part of their life, and the life of their daughter who is in her final year of study at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS. Ordained a permanent deacon in 2008, Doug is very involved in his parish, assisting his pastor with baptisms, marriage preparation, and ministries training. He brings to the Living Water Board not only his spiritual wisdom but also valuable professional expertise gained in his 30 years as a partner in Tien Rostad LLP, Chartered Accountants. He received his Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Accounting in 1974, became a Chartered Accountant in 1976, and was awarded his FCA in 1996.

Deacon Tien is also a board member of the Augustana Chaplaincy Council and the Camrose Ministerial Society, and is an associate of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul, Kingston. He has demonstrated his commitment to the Camrose community through other volunteer positions including past Chair of St. Mary’s Hospital Board of Governors, past President of the Camrose Lion’s Club, past President of the Chamber of Commerce, past Board Member of Habitat for Humanity, Camrose Chapter; and he was a founding member of the committee of the Battle River Community Foundation and the Camrose & District Music Festival Association.

He and Mary have been impressed with all that Living Water College of the Arts has accomplished to date, and he looks forward to contributing to the board in whatever ways he can.
